"The volumes from which this index has been prepared are sixty-two vols. of local records. The local records are collected during the year 1800 and 1804 by Colin Mackenzie. The records are written in Sanskrit, Marathi, Hindustani, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu ... contain names of persons, sects, races, places, temples, rivers, mountains and all objects."
